DEE conducts MonEEy Talks Webinar
Where to invest your money? What are your options? How do you even begin? These are just some of the intriguing questions asked in the recently concluded monEEy talks virtual seminar by the aspiring bright young minds of the Department of Electrical Engineering who are eager to learn and figure out how to get started on their business and investments.
After the technical discussions of Professor Ahfock and Professor Sahai last September 20, the DEE conducted another webinar tackling money and finances last September 27, 2021. The aim of the webinar was to equip the students with the necessary skills on managing taxes and finances as well as entrepreneurship which will prove useful after they graduate from the university. The said webinar is part of the 25th founding anniversary celebration of the department.
The first two speakers, Ms. Teresita Ramoso and Ms. Erika Diaz, highlighted the importance of insurance and investments. Ms. Ramoso is a registered financial consultant who has over 27 years of experience in the financial service industry as an advisor. She is working as a full-time financial wealth manager at FWD Life, and is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table where she received the MDRT Court of the Table Award. During the webinar, Ms. Ramoso shared the significance of correct financial planning. She taught the participants how to be in control of their income, investments, and expenses.
Subsequently, Ms. Erika Diaz shared her experiences during the most difficult times in her life, and how insurance money helped her rebuild the dreams she shared with her late husband. Ms. Diaz is a certified public accountant who is working full-time as a manager for internal audit at Ingram Micro Inc., a Fortune 100 company. She is also a financial wealth planner and a silver elite awardee at the FWD Life Philippines.
The last speaker of the event, Mr. Horeb Eliot Dagandan, is an alumnus and a former instructor at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He is the founder of the organization Creators of Wealth Philippines. Currently, he is working full-time as a financial analyst and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table as well. He is also a Hedge Unit Manager at Philam Life. During his talk, he showed his expertise and experiences in the realm of digital investments and imparted the correct way of thinking in choosing where to invest. The participants were in awe of his risk appetite when it comes to trading and investing.
Many students and faculty members grabbed the opportunity to participate in the open forum. Unfortunately, not all questions were entertained in the interest of time but fortunately, the speakers offered channels for communication for the participants should they wish to learn more. | Christian Paul Esteban, 29 September 2021
