DEE Debate Team wins Big in Legal Minds XV
Despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic, the debaters from the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) climbed up to the top spot in Legal Minds XV, an engineering debate competition organized by the UPLB Society of Chemical Engineering Students (UPLB schemes) held virtually last October 25, 2021.
The debaters composed of different batches stood their ground as they competed with fellow debaters from other units within the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, Teams from the Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE), Department of Civil Engineering (DCE), and the Department of Industrial Engineering (IED).
While the DEE team lost the first round of the debate, they managed to land a spot and clash with IABE in the finals round. After a feisty finals round, DEE managed to clinch all the top awards. Freshman debater Eldridge Vincent Hubilla, and Team Coach Engr. Edward Maguindayao were awarded as Best Debater and Best Coach, respectively.
The team members are:
1. Mark Angelo Roma (active debater)
2. Eldridge Vincent Hubilla (active debater, team head)
3. Ezekiel Delos Reyes (active debater)
4. Aira Mikka Jubelea (alternate debater)
Meanwhile, IABE and IED were declared as 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Being the first placer, DEE was awarded with a trophy and a cash prize, and each debater was awarded medals.
This feat comes four years after DEE was also declared champion in Legal Minds XII. | Edward Joseph H. Maguindayao, 25 October 2021
