Engr. Peter Je C. Dilao
How can electrical engineers be part of the solution to the alarming climate crisis and the general push for a decarbonized and regenerative future?
The answer of Engr. Peter Je C. Dilao to this question is what he is currently proud of. Engr. Dilao presently takes pride in working as an electrical engineer who provides technical support in a company continuously developing renewable energy power projects.
But before reaching this position, Engr. Dilao says that UPLB DEE helped him achieve his goals by equipping him with the “necessary knowledge and skills through its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on research.” He further notes that UPLB DEE honed his character to be curious, assertive and enduring.
Engr. Dilao recalls that he has many fond memories at UPLB DEE, and his favorite is doing group activities and projects. These group works not only enabled him and his classmates to be cooperative, creative, and innovative learners but also “developed bond and camaraderie beyond the demands of engineering school.” He adds the opportunities such as the Meralco Power Camp and the KAIST EE Camp which he once participated in.
To current and prospective EE students, Engr. Dilao advises them to enjoy the learning process, explore and be comfortable in learning independently. He adds that “practice is the key and practice takes time.” For Engr. Dilao, it is also important to surround yourself with people who will influence you to be excellent and to go the extra mile.
Indeed, Engr. Dilao has proven that all is not talk and that hard work truly pays off, and the journey starts with being an EE student.
